Lyme Disease Awareness

Lyme disease is the most common tick-borne illness in both North America and Europe. The most common carrier of this disease is the Deer tick, which feed on the blood of animals and humans. Deer ticks harbor and spread the bacteria when feeding. Those living in or those who frequent heavily wooded and grassy areas where the ticks thrive are more likely to get Lyme disease. Most people who contract Lyme disease recover completely, as long as you are treated with appropriate antibiotics at the early stages of the disease. Some of the symptoms include a rash, flu-like symptoms, migratory joint pain, and neurological problems among other things. Some less common symptoms are an irregular heartbeat, eye inflammation, hepatitis and severe fatigue. For more information on Lyme disease, please click on the following links.
