Group Walk - Boone Fork Trail Loop

September 14 2017, 10:00am

Enjoy a 2 mile walk on the level portion of Boone Fork Trail Loop @ Price Lake Picnic Area. Group will leave the Town Hall parking promptly at 10:15AM to drive to the trail head at Price Lake Picnic area on  the Blue Ridge Parkway. We should arrive back to Town Hall at approximately 1:00PM.

Walking on the flat portion of Boone Fork Trail Loop, we will walk out for 1 mile, and retrace our steps back to our cars. Our route will be flat the entire way, where we will walk through an open meadow which was a favorite gathering place for local Indians centuries ago. Our route will take us through some rhododendron and laure thickets, and eventually parallel the beautiful Boone Fork Creek (large enough to be considered a river). Beaver dams and other wildlife have been seen on past excursions.

Bring water, sunscreen, headcover, good walking shoes/boots, walking poles, snacks & a smile!
