TDA Projects
TDA (Tourism Development Authority) is one of those little known branches of local government. Most communities have one, as does The Town of Seven Devils. But what do they do?
The Seven Devils TDA is comprised of a committee of four people with three voting members who meet the fourth Tuesday of each month at 9:00 AM to discuss ongoing improvements, beautification, and advertising of our community to generate visitation.
Advertising is one of the primary responsibilities of the TDA. Ads in local publications tout the “Positive Altitude” of Seven Devils. Look carefully – it is ALTITUDE, not attitude. Our community offers many advantages to both part-time and full-time residents. Altitude is just one of them. Seven Devils is uniquely located between Boone, Blowing Rock, Banner Elk, and Linville, providing excellent access to all major ski slopes, golfing, hiking, fishing, kayaking, canoeing, and other recreational endeavors. In fact, snow tubing and zip lining is available right here on our mountain. The Towns proximity to shopping, restaurants, and other quality of life amenities make Seven Devils and excellent vacation destination. Great views, affordable real estate, the high quality of life, and beautiful flora and fauna are but a few of the reasons people choose to live in and visit The Town of Seven Devils.
The TDA funds many projects such as our Town’s brochures, detailed maps of the mountain, seasonal decorations and flags, plants and flowers, and advertising. The TDA funded the complete rehabilitation of the tennis courts including a new playing surface and nets, and picnic tables. Improvements at Town Hall have been funded by the TDA. You will gradually see improvements each year as we strive to find new ways to beautify our town.
Citizens are welcome to attend TDA meetings and address the committee to ask questions or volunteer ideas that we may use. We are proud of our many completed projects and accomplishments and look forward to continuing our role in improving our community.
