Group Hike - November

Shulls Mills Road to Price Lake Picnic Area – Friday, November 10, 2023

WHAT:

Estimated 3+ mile hike from Shulls Mill Road to the Price Lake Picnic area, hiking on a section of the North Carolina Mountain-to-Sea Trail (MTS). An Easy/Low Moderate hike. We will need 2 cars to shuttle hikers from the end point back to the trail head.

WHEN:

Friday, November 10, 2023. We will leave the 7D Community Center parking promptly at 9:00 am. Drive to the trailhead on Shulls Mill Road (then place a car at the Price Lake picnic area). We should be back in 7D before 3:00 pm.

WHERE:

This section of the MTS begins on the shoulder of Shulls Mill Road and disappears into the forest. Mostly downhill trekking. The trail eventually crosses Boone Fork Creek (no wading, as there is a bridge provided) and intersects with the Boone Fork Trail. We will then take to Boone Fork Trail to the Price Lake picnic area. The hike is estimated to be around 3+ miles mostly a nice “walk in the woods”.

WHAT TO BRING:

Snacks; Water; Hiking Poles; Your Good Humor; Sunscreen; Camera; More Water; Headcover; … the usual stuff.

NOTE:

prior to leaving the Community Center, all will be asked to sign (one time for all Parks and Rec activities for the entire 2023 season) a multipurpose form which serves as a: (1) Liability Waiver; (2) Photo Permission; and (3) Emergency Contact Information.
