Bass Lake/Flat Top Manor (aka Cone Manor) Loop

WHAT:

In continuing support of your 2024 fitness New Year resolution, an approximate 4.5 mile loop hike on the Cone Manor carriage trails – from Bass Lake up to Flat Top Manor, and back down to the starting point at Bass Lake. Rated Easy/Moderate hike on the carriage trails.

WHEN:

Friday, March 15, 2024. We will leave the Seven Devils Community Center parking promptly at 9:00 am. Drive to Bass Lake in Blowing Rock. We should be back in Seven Devils before 3:00 pm.

WHERE:

Flat Top Manor (aka Cone Manor) carriage trails. We will hike a section of the 26 mile carriage system built by Bertha Cone. The first 1.9 miles will be at an uphill grade to Flat Top Manor (the grade is manageable, as the trails were developed for horses to pull carriages full of Manor guests), with the balance of the hike down at a similar manageable grade. 

WHAT TO BRING:

Snacks; Water; Hiking Poles; Your Smile; Sunscreen; Camera; More Water; Headcover; …. the usual stuff.

NOTE:

Prior to leaving the Community Center, all will be asked to sign (one time for all Parks and Rec activities for the entire 2024 year) a multipurpose form which serves as a: (1) Liability Waiver; (2) Photo Permission; and (3) Emergency Contact information.
