Overview of The Park at Seven Devils
The Park at Seven Devils is located on the same parcel of land as the Seven Devils Town Hall at 157 Seven Devils Road. This park is still being developed, but currently is home to a paved walking path, a memorial garden, and a spectacular view of Grandfather Mountain. Seven Devils events are held in this park including summer music concerts. There are future plans for constructing additional amenities. For amenities and their proposed locations see the map below.
Project History
In early 2019, the Town of Seven Devils negotiated the purchase of the now Town Hall building and accompanying 6.5 acres of land and closed in July 2019. One of the attractive aspects of the new purchase was the acreage, and how it could be developed to create a future park. Town Engineer created an initial map plan in March 2020.
In early 2020, due to COVID-19 restrictions, Town Hall was closed to the public, and plans for development were put on hold. In early 2021, clearing and grading of property took place. In 2022, the Town completed essential infrastructure needed in The Park at Seven Devils, including a well, septic, and a paved walking trail.
In 2023 the Town applied for the Parks and Recreation Trust Fund (PARTF) Grant for aid in continuing work on The Park at Seven Devils. The Town requested support from PARTF for the following facilities: bathroom facility, a playground, concert stage, picnic pavilion, PARS Course, and Dog Park. The Town is awaiting the results of this grant application.
In the event of an emergency in the vicinity of the Town of Seven Devils that warrants helicopter assistance, The Park at Seven Devils may be used as a helicopter landing zone.
